The project is about multimodal monitoring of birds in an aviary and the analysis of the recorded signals. Specifically, we will record the birds with microphone arrays, video cameras and RFID tags/readers. The video and RFID data is supposed to be auxiliary data to localize and track the individuals within the aviary. The main data of interest is the audio recordings, from which we hope to obtain optimally clean separated tracks of the individual birds (by means of beamforming and source separation techniques), such that our biology team can analyse the birds' conversation behaviour and also re-use the recordings for behavioural experiments.
