Annonce

Attention ! Réunion repoussée au mois d'octobre 2015 (date précise à fixer).

In the near future, mobile applications and services are expected to produce the main revenues of the content providers and network operators. The magnitude of this scheduled success however, depends mainly on the ability to efficiently assess and optimize the end-user Quality of Experience (QoE). QoE is defined by ITU-T as “overall acceptability of an application or service as perceived subjectively by the end-user”. QoE is therefore a multidimensional concept including both objective and subjective aspects and is subject to several influencing factors (IF). In general, QoE IFs are related to user, system, service, application… In the context of mobile services, QoE IFs may include mobility, handover, device, transmission channel, network Quality of Service (QoS), signal content, compression algorithm, user expectation and context of use.

According to a recent survey, the overall process of QoE management may be split into three steps: QoE modeling, QoE measurements and QoE optimization. QoE modeling aims to model the relationship between measurable IFs and QoE estimations. QoE measurements deals with the acquisition of data related to the network, user, terminal, context and so on. Finally QoE control looks to maximize the end-user’s satisfaction while optimizing the network resources allocation.

This GDR ISIS day aims to give a survey of research related to QoE focusing on mobile services. Contributions are expected on both objective and subjective aspects. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
